Veðruð Verk er einkasýning Írisar Maríu Leifsdóttur sem opnar laugardaginn 18. október kl. 14-16 í Listasal Mosfellsbæjar.

Málverk Írisar Maríu eru innblásin af veðri og hún kallar þau Veðruð Verk. Þar skrásetur hún veðrið og málar í samspili við náttúruöflin með íslenskum jarðefnum sem hún hefur safnað á fjöllum, jöklum og í ám og býr til eigin olíumálningu úr þeim. Hún málar undir berum himni með mýrarauða, jökulleir, sandi og olíu á striga, þar sem veðrið tekur við sköpunarferlinu og mótar verkin með tímanum. Íris María hefur málað með veðrinu í sex ár. Á sýningunni má sjá listferil hennar og þróun Veðraða Verka. Íris María leikur sér á mörkum listgreina og sýnir málverk, skúlptúra, hljóðverk, vídeóverk, skrásetningar, sviðsetningar, innsetningar og flytur gjörninga. Hún lítur á fólk, veður, tíma, aðstæður, umhverfi og aðra ferla, sem beina þátttakendur í listsköpun sinni og sem óumflýjanlega samstarfsaðila.

Weathered Works is a solo exhibition by Íris María Leifsdóttir, opening on Saturday, October 18th at 2-4 PM in Listasalur Mosfellsbæ.

Íris María paints with the weather and refers to her paintings and sculptures as Weathered Works, where weathering and the passage of time play a key role in her artistic process. In collaboration with the weather that shapes the artworks, she documents weather with her paintings. She puts meaning in the act of painting with Icelandic materials she has collected from mountains, glaciers, and rivers. She paints outdoors under the open sky, makes oil colors out of Icelandic materials and paints on canvas, allowing the weather to take over the creative process and shape the work over time. She started painting with the weather six years ago. In this exhibition she presents a collection of weathered works. Íris María explores the boundaries between art forms, presenting paintings, sculptures, sound pieces, documentation, staging, transformations, installations, and performances. She considers people, the weather, time, circumstances, and other processes as guiding participants in her artistic practice and as unavoidable collaborators.
