‘’The marble effect of glacier clay from Iceland and Greenland’’ exhibition at the Icelandic General Consulate, Hans Egedesvej 9, Nuuk during Culture night 21st of January 2023.

Augnablikin, the Icelandic artist duo Antonía Bergþórsdóttir and Íris María Leifsdóttir, led a workshop in Illorput for 7 participants working with Glacier clay | Glacier flour and other materials from our surroundings. We focus on exploring the use of glacier materials from both countries, how to process them and use creative techniques to make artwork. We want to explore the similarities and uniqueness in our local materials. The materials were gathered by Icelandic and Greenlandic artists over the last four years at places like Sólheimajökull and Qussuk.

By seeking out clay in the surrounding nature we wonder about the effect of time. We look into how the materials form on the glacier, and our perspective of them. We believe that natural forces can open up dialogue and common elements between Greenland and Iceland. There we can strengthen relationships and learn about methods to promote sustainability and the importance of feeling care towards the environment in order to protect it.

Participants: Lisbeth Lings, Lise Mølbach Krogh Musse, Line Riis Christiansen, Charlotte Kristiansen, Susanne Jensen, Pauliina Oinonen, Alberte Parnuuna
